The presentation reviews research on the risks workers faces while working in underground mining. Risk management research analyzes the dangers in underground mines, why they happen, and ways to make things safer. In 2014 and 2023, mining industry experts from labour and management determined top risks in underground mining and why they happen. Comparing research results over ten years shows how things have changed over the years. We will share what we found and discuss the main things that can go wrong at mines and why they happen. Plus, we will discuss the ideas and safety measures suggested by experts to make sure everyone stays safe. We will look at improvements made to make workplaces safer. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how workplace safety has evolved in the Ontario underground mining industry.
