Industry experts analyze causes of highway and forest road travel incidents
On February 8, 2024, Workplace Safety North hosted a webinar, "New health and safety research on Ontario logging industry."
In Nov. 2023, as part of Ontario’s risk-based approach to improve health and safety, a group of subject matter experts from the logging industry met to take a deep dive into the root causes and controls for the top industry risk they had identified: highway and forest road travel – including dangerous conditions, fatigue, weather, and road and vehicle maintenance.
This webinar reviews the root causes of highway and forest road travel incidents as well as control measures to help reduce risks to workers and the public due to unsafe driving or travel conditions.
