Workplace Safety North (WSN) has announced the lineup of speakers for the sold-out 28th annual Mining Health and Safety Conference, set to take place April 15 to 16, at the Holiday Inn in Sudbury. The conference, themed “Shaping Safety in the Critical Minerals Era,” focuses on advancing safety and sustainability in response to the rising demand for critical minerals.
More than 250 delegates are expected to gather for this important industry event, which serves as a platform for learning, knowledge sharing, and networking among industry professionals. A wide array of speakers will cover topics ranging from high-risk hazard management and safety culture to sustainable growth and workforce readiness.
“As Ontario’s mining sector expands to meet the growing demand for critical minerals, prioritizing compliance, risk management, and a culture of safety is essential,” says Mike Parent, President and CEO of Workplace Safety North. “The Mining Health and Safety Conference supports industry professionals by sharing practical insights and technical expertise needed to manage emerging risks and protect workers in a rapidly evolving sector.”
The conference begins on Wednesday, April 15, with keynote speaker Allan James Moore talking about modern approaches to workplace health and safety. An Industry Leaders Spotlight will follow, highlighting the latest health and safety initiatives supporting the critical minerals sector. The day will close out with keynote speaker, Dan Comiskey discussing mental resilience for high-performance teams.
Throughout the day, delegates can visit more than 40 vendors at the Information Exchange Trade Show and network at the reception in the afternoon.
On Thursday, April 16, technical sessions on the latest health and safety research and innovations are being held in the morning. The conference will wrap up with an awards presentation recognizes achievements in mining health and safety, followed by an Industry Committee Spotlight sharing key challenges and emerging solutions shaping the future of Ontario’s mining sector.
