New courses offer practical tools to support psychological health and safety at work

Workplace Safety North (WSN) has launched three new e-learning courses focused on mental health and psychological health and safety in the workplace. To recognize Healthy Workplace Month this October, the courses are available at no cost until December 31, 2026.

These courses provide practical information and strategies to help workplaces build resilience, increase mental health awareness, support colleagues and reduce stigma.

The new self-paced e-learning courses include:

Each course takes approximately one hour to complete and is designed for workers, supervisors, managers, joint health and safety committee members, health and safety representatives, and others interested in psychological health and safety at work.

“Mental health is an important part of overall workplace health and safety,” says Tiana Larocque, Manager of Integrated Solutions, Health and Safety Services at WSN. “Healthy Workplace Month is an opportunity to focus on the steps workplaces can take to support employee well-being, and we’re pleased to make these new courses available at no cost until the end of the year.”

Resilience at Work: Building Strength and Confidence in Resource Industries

Resilience at Work: Building Strength and Confidence in Resource Industries explores what resilience means, why it matters and how it can be strengthened. Participants learn strategies for managing stress, building confidence and supporting a positive work environment. The course also introduces the “prune principle,” an approach to building confidence and supporting personal growth.

Mental Health Awareness and Peer Support in the Workplace

Mental Health Awareness and Peer Support in the Workplace helps participants better understand mental health and how they can support themselves and others at work. The course explores mental health, harm and illness, and introduces the mental health continuum as a tool for recognizing changes in mental health. Participants also learn practical approaches to supportive conversations with colleagues, including compassion and connecting people with appropriate resources.

Stamping out Stigma: Addressing Mental Health in the Workplace

Stamping out Stigma: Addressing Mental Health in the Workplace focuses on recognizing and reducing stigma related to mental health. Participants learn about different forms of stigma, how stigma can appear in language and media, and its potential impact. The course also provides strategies for helping create a more respectful and supportive workplace.

These courses join existing mental health training and resources, including Opening the Door to Mental Health Support and Occupational Mental Health, which became available earlier this year.
