Safety training is essential for preventing workplace incidents, particularly when it comes to slips, trips, and falls. These incidents can lead to serious injuries or fatalities, making it crucial to implement proactive measures. Slips, trips, and falls are among the most common workplace hazards, especially in environments where surfaces may be wet, uneven, or cluttered. Employers are responsible for identifying potential fall hazards and ensuring that workers understand how to avoid them. Regular safety training, including hazard identification and the proper use of equipment, plays a key role in mitigating these risks.
One of the most important courses for workers who are exposed to fall risks is the Working at Heights course. Workplace Safety North offers one-day training that provides an overview of legislated requirements, hazards, and hazard controls related to working at heights. Designed in compliance with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development’s Working at Heights Program Standard, this course ensures participants understand the risks involved and how to prevent falls.
Workers who have completed an approved Working at Heights course and whose work is covered by the Regulations for Construction Projects are also required to take a Working at Heights refresher course within three years of the date of completion of the training if they are continuing to complete tasks at heights.
