Diamond drilling is used in the mining industry to probe the contents of known ore deposits and potential sites. By withdrawing a small diameter core of rock from the orebody, geologists can analyze the core by chemical assay and conduct petrologic, structural, and mineralogical studies of the rock.
Based on risk assessment results and further analysis, the Root Cause Analysis working group confirmed and developed the following risk statement using the “Fishbone” approach addressing: “Inadequate emergency response to a medical emergency has adverse effects on workers.”
This report shows the top root causes of inadequate emergency medical response, as identified by workers, supervisors, and employers in the surface diamond drilling industry through a WSN-facilitated root cause analysis workshop with the support of the Canadian Diamond Drillers Association.
