The Ministry of Labour and the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the death of a Red Lake man in a gravel pit.
Police said officers were dispatched at about 3:30 Wednesday morning to a pit off Highway 105 south of Ear Falls, where they found the body of 45-year-old Paul Campeau.
A labour ministry spokesperson told CBC News the incident happened at a Green Acres Contracting work site.
He said investigators were told that Campeau had climbed into the back of a gravel truck where he became lodged in an auger.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted but has not yet been scheduled.
The spokesperson was unable to confirm whether any orders have been issued to the company by the labour ministry while the investigation continues.
