Ontario phase two reopening permits in-class training in certain regions

First Aid CPR training illustrationAs a basic necessity of workplace health and safety, businesses need to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Regulation 1101, which requires having first aid equipment, facilities, and trained personnel in the workplace.

Recently, the Ontario government announced first aid providers in certain regions are included in phase two of reopening the province, and permission has been granted to reopen and resume in-class first aid training.

Due to the pandemic lockdown, First Aid certificates that would have expired as of March 1, 2020, have been extended to December 31, 2020.

The WSIB has posted important information about first aid training recertification, extension dates, and training provisions.
