It’s just a few feet or maybe it’s more, in either situation falls from heights hurt, and occasionally kill, Ontario workers. Every Worker tells the story of how much pain even a short fall can cause a worker, and focuses on how such falls from ladders and equipment can be prevented. This issue also examines how the final part of any fall protection plan for working at heights includes emergency response.

This issue of Every Worker reminds everyone that all too often young people pay a steep price to enter Ontario’s workforce. So Every Worker examines how the Young Worker Awareness Program tries to reach secondary school students with a safe work message, and reviews how one company prepares post-secondary students to do the physically demanding work of tree planting. The issue includes resources – a poster, young worker orientation checklist, and information to help employers keep young workers safe.

Workplace Safety North’s Every Worker takes slips, trips and falls seriously. And so should everyone. This issue focuses on slip, trip and fall safety starting with the first step – proper footwear, and continuing with proper year-round and special winter housekeeping measures. Every Worker also highlights recent changes to the Safety Groups program, and the importance of staying current on equipment maintenance and service procedures.

Workplace Safety North’s Every Worker can help you and your company get there from here safely. This issue focuses on motor vehicle/mobile equipment safety by examining how one company is turning its incident rate around, and suggesting how others can follow their lead. It also provides information on preventing driving-related MSDs, and how to create a circle check for vehicles and mobile equipment.

WSN introduces its new magazine, Every Worker. The publication is intended for safety staff and those with a mission for health and safety at any level in your workplace.
